I need know on Prediction of weld line strength in injection-moulded parts made of unreinforced thermoplastics in moldflow using conventional method (not using Helius PFA). Kindly support me with any case study documents if possible or the conventional procedure for predicting the weldline strength. thanks in advance cheers param

Hi @paramesh7war

in Moldflow, predicting strength of weld line is based on some assumptions

1) melt temperature in those regions (minimal temperature drop should be targetted)

2) pressure at which melt fronts joins (higher is better)

if not you need to export the model with in-mold residual stress and check the strength in third party software

Thanks

hi @mppkumar,

Thanks for your inputs. yes actually i need to take this weld line strength information to further structural FEA simulation like in abaqus /ansys.

so looking forward for the methodology for the same.

thanks in advance.

regards

Param

Hi,

you need to run a script "mpi2ans"to export the part to ansys.

you can refer the below link for more detail:
