Hello Autodesk team,

 

I am using Moldflow insight 2018.2 version. One quick question

 

Is it possible to run Cooling simulation for 2K(Overmolding) part without FEM?

 

Is there any update regarding Overmolding simulation without Cool FEM?

Hi @prabu.Karunakaran

 

At present, cool(FEM) analysis only possible that too with 3D mesh; refer below image

 

may be you can put your request in "Ideastation"

Thank you for posting to the forum!

 

I'm one of Autodesk technical support team members.

For your information, I don't hear any updates regarding BEM-cool analysis in overmolding simulation at the present stage.

(FEM-cool might be easier to consider the passage of time in each shot. BEM-cool is considered as steady state, so there is no concept regarding the passage of time.)

 

If you hope to consider something hot spot of the mold, how about trying the following two ways once? (You might already try them.)

 

* Replace the 1st shot to the part insert and run flow analysis through 2nd shot with BEM cool analysis.

Or

* Set the Mold surface temperature partially.

  (I could set it to both elements of 1st and 2nd shot.)

(Left: All mold surface temperature is 40C.

 Right: The core of mold surface temperature is 80C (1st and 2nd shot) and the other is 40C.)
