Void Fill of coaxial pipes

Hello, 

 

i have to build 2 different inlets for an coaxial pipe-system. i can fill the inner circle of the pipe as a surface, but then i can not fill just the outer "ring", becaus CFD fills the hole area/surface/circle across the inner surface.

 

an easy solution was described here:

but, i habe diffrent ostacles inside the pipes so i can not set them as solid in inventor, like the solution in the link above.

 

 

any idea, how to solve this ?

I am not sure why the previous like (also me, haha) does not work.

You simply need to cap off the model to leave it sealed before moving into CFD.

 

Could you share an image of the inlet/outlet that you are struggling with?

What i really want, is to choose indepentently evry colored area. and to set diffrent values for the diffrent colors. as in this picture

It looks like you could have two possible inlets right?

So add two parts to this end in CAD. 

 

  1. A solid cylinder using the inner diameter of the smallest tube. Extrude this out to 5x its diameter in length
  2. A tube using the ID of the larger tube and the OD of the inner tube. Extrude as above

As the model is sealed now, CFD will automatically build the internal volume for you.

When in CFD both of these parts will also be assigned a fluid as per whatever you have internally.

 

Does that make sense?

I got the idea, but if i extrude something, the inner geometry is lost.

Hi @moldodhx,

 

This sounds like a CAD problem, yes? Maybe if you reach out to the folks on the Inventor thread they can help you out. It sounds like you were trying to use Geometry Tools, but that is not giving you the functionality you want. Any geometry configuration you want to built can be done in CAD- Geometry Tools is just something we built to try and help customers without having to go back into CAD.
