Register now for Autodesk University 2016

It’s back to school time!

My oldest son starts middle school today. It is the first time he has a list of classes and teachers and will have to navigate the halls to make his way from class to class. He is so excited.

Part of his excitement is that now he gets to take classes like Engineering and Manufacturing and Industrial Technology.

Why am I telling you this? Because I am the class curator for our Simulation courses at Autodesk University, and I can tell you -  this kind of excitement can be yours this November!

What is Autodesk University?

AU is the world's largest gathering of Autodesk customers. It provides an opportunity to attend classes, and forums with product experts and thought leaders as well as meet with professional peers and members of our Autodesk team. It is also a lot of fun. In addition to classes, there are exciting keynotes, an Exhibit Hall, and social events. Check out the AU Experience page to learn more.

What does AU offer for Simulation users?

Whether you are freshman, new to simulation or a senior and want to get a look at the newest technologies, AU has something for you. There are hundreds of classes to choose from, including over two dozen focused on simulation.

We have developed two “tracks” or sets of classes for students of simulation – one for Moldflow and Advanced Materials and one for mechanical simulation. A track is simply a set of commonly themed classes designed to help you make the most of the 3-day schedule. However, you do not need to sign up for every class in the track.

Read more about the simulation tracks below. Then, visit the AU Las Vegas website. Registration is open NOW and the price of an AU pass will go up in October – so get enrolled soon! We hope to see you there.

Simulation Tracks:

Moldflow Power Track

Once again, the Moldflow Power Track offers 3 full days of classes featuring compelling topics.

As Moldflow Product Manager Hanno Van Raalte says, "This is the 6th Moldflow Power Track at Autodesk University! Over the years the quality of the presentations has been consistently high and I expect this year to be no different. This is the event where we showcase  high end, new and sometimes ambitious workflow technologies related to Injection Molding (Weld line strength prediction, RTM and Metal Injection Molding), but we also offer classes on very practical topics on how to get the best results out of Moldflow. Of course the 'Overview of Development and Research " is always very interesting, showing what is currently in the R&D pipe line."

A Moldflow Certification class is also offered on Monday before AU begins.

Simulation Boot Camp

Interested in mechanical simulation? Boot Camp has been developed to cover a breadth of topics from understanding how apply simulation in your design process to learning specific techniques or skills. The track will kick off with a Manager's Guide to Making Simulation Effective in Product Development, and continue with topics such as:

Upfront simulation for optimized design Using connectors in FEA
Incorporating simulation into Inventor analyses How and when to use contact
Model preparation with SimStudio Tools Fatigue analysis
Generative design with topology optimization Failure analysis and test correlation

Also, Nastran Product Manager Mitch Muncy will be hosting a hands-on lab challenge where attendees will have a chance to work a problem in 1 of four different FEA products.

And for Fusion users…

If you are a Fusion user, you are probably aware that we have big plans for Simulation in Fusion. If not, be sure to check out this article before AU: The Fusion Forecast: Lifting the Lid on Future FEA.  Our team will be looking at many of these technologies in the Boot Camp classes. In addition, you may want to check out the Open Lab on Wednesday featuring Fusion Advanced Sim

“AU is going to be a special time for Fusion users interested in Simulation. The technology we will be delivering as an integrated part of the product design process will simply help them design better products,” says Fusion Simulation Product Manager Mike Smell. "Our team will be looking at many of these technologies in the Boot Camp classes and labs and we are looking forward to you joining us."

What else will you find at AU?

There is a lot to experience at AU beyond the classroom. Attend inspiring keynote events. Explore the Exhibit Hall. Get your questions answered at the Answer Bar. Give us your ideas and feedback through participation in Voice of the Customer interviews. It is an amazing three days!
